Today, as the first post on the brand new design and name of my blog (I am so addicted to change, it’s crazy, but that’s another blog post), I’m going to pour a glass of wine and whisper some sexy songs. When you write about love, whether it be sweet lovemaking or headboard banging …well banging, you have to feel the love, even if the dog that is your constant companion while you write is sending out stink bombs of nuclear proportion. (I think she actually poots out skunks, they smell so bad.) You have to get in a zone, and if your time is as short as mine, you have to get in that zone post haste.
Following this, here are some luscious tunes that are guaranteed to get you in that “mood”. They range from sweet and sensuous to all out raunchy. Therefore, without further ado and in no particular order…enjoy!
I Touch Myself – The Divinyls – Not sure if the song could be any more explicit than that, I mean the title alone, right?
I Touch Myself by The Divinyls 1991
Need you Tonight – INXS – Oh, Michael Hutchence, what great, great hair he had. And he’s not sleepy either.
Wicked Game – Chris Isaak – The video is just as bleak as the song, filmed in black and white on that black beach. He says he doesn’t want to fall in love…but he will.
Juicy Fruit – Mtume – Not the gum, folks. “You’re the only who gives me good and plenty…” I remember seeing this on New York Hot Tracks back in the 80s (Y’all remember Carlos DeJesus with that hot hairstyle and the shirt open to there, right?) This was such hot song, with lyrics like “I’ll be your lollipop, you can lick me everywhere…” that they cut portions of the song so that they could play it on the radio.
You Shook Me All Night Long – AC/DC – Yeah. Refer to the headboard banging…banging.
38 – You Shook Me All Night Long
No Ordinary Love – Sade – No one can sing a lovelorn song like Sade Adu. This…is….no…ordinary love….no ordinary love….
Lady Marmalade – LaBelle (not the little girls version with Christina Aguilera and co. This is Madame Patti’s version) Straight up no chaser…you wanna give a go, Joe?
LaBelle – Lady Marmalade (1975)
Nasty Girl – Vanity 6 – A group that was “sponsored” by Prince. Can’t you tell?
Give it to Me – Rick James – He was all about that sweet, funky stuff.
Give It To Me Baby – Rick James
Whole Lotta Love – Led Zeppelin – Another lead singer with great hair and tight , tight jeans. Gotta love a whole lotta Robert Plant. Remember this is the same band who recorded “Squeeze my lemon…till the juice runs down my leg…”
Led Zeppelin – Whole Lotta Love (1969)
Now that you’ve been properly inspired……
