Blogtoberfest – Funny Halloween Movies

Oh, you sneaky Blogtoberfest, you almost got me, didn’t you?  Clever girl.  But I am not going to make the same mistake I did a few nights ago and scare myself

so much I’m sitting up and jumping and shadows.  No.  Today’s blog post is about the fun and/or campy Halloween movies.  Unfortunately, there is an evil clown in one of them, but it’s balanced by a gangsta Woody Harrelson.

Which brings me to my first move, Zombieland.  Zombies scare me but I watch ’em anyway.  It’s something about the apocalyptic, nomad type existence that happens after such devastation that I enjoy.  I like Zombieland because the lead guy isn’t a big ol’ tough zombie-killing hero, no sir.  He’s a scared little beta dude, running for his life.  “Double-Tap” indeed.  A fun film to watch with excellent zombie-killing sequences that make you think “I could do that”.  Let me tell you, I probably couldn’t.

Rick Moranis,  the mousy florist who hits it big with a “Mean Green Mother from Outer Space”, a plant that brings him fame and fortune but demands a lot more in return.  I’ve seen the 1960 version with Jack Nicholson but I do prefer the musical version with Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Jim Belushi as well as Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell as two of the three girl singers.

Son, be a dentist….you have a talent for causing things pain.

Ghostbusters:

Three words: StayPuft Marshmallow Man.  I laughed so hard when I first saw the StayPuft man walking through New York, like a sweet, but angry albino King Kong, that my stomach muscles hurt the next day. The whole movie is such fun. Annie Potts and Rick Moranis are both cute and hilarious as a quirky couple.

What are your favorite “fun” Halloween movies?

Halloween Music – The Classical Edition

Ah, it’s getting closer, isn’t it? My little ones’ costumes have arrived (via UPS, dahlings…Dahlia despises retail shopping and who would give up a chance to see the kinda hot UPS man dropping off a package?) and the candy corn is in the house. A chill is in the air and Blogtoberfest continues. Y’all still with me, I hope, because this is testing me to the limits. Blogging every day? Yikes! But it’s been 13 days and so far so good.

I’ve got on my big headphones today, you know the ones, and I’m sending you some intellectually spooky tunes to create the perfect background for you and your Halloween celebrations. Whether it’s playing in the background or you are actively listening, these pieces are sure to raise the hair on the back of your neck.

Shall we begin?

Franz Liszt: Fantasy and Fugue on “B-A-C-H”…..no not that Bach:

In music, the BACH motif is the motif, a succession of notes important or characteristic to a piece, B flat, A, C, B natural. In German musical nomenclature, in which the note B natural is written as H and the B flat as B, it forms Johann Sebastian Bach‘s family name. (from Wikipedia)

GYÖRGY LIGETI – Volumina –  Pieces of his music were used in the film 2001:  A Space Odyssey.

This such a classic, I couldn’t ignore it:

Bach, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor

Another classic –

Mussorsky – Night on Bald Mountain

Last, but not least, one of my favorites…the trilling flutes, the ominous lower reeds and the muted brass give you the chill you desire…and don’t forget all those creepy broomsticks.

Blogtoberfest – Halloween Cat Craft

I have three little ones.  In an alternate life, I was a teacher.  I can sense when it’s time to put away the books and the science experiments and take out the construction paper, pipe cleaners and the googly eyes.

Crafts are a stress reliever.  Coloring, cutting, pasting and putting things together can be a welcome respite from sweating over a keyboard.  Especially where googly eyes are involved.

I couldn’t do this any better than this blogger, so here is a link to her page:

OCTOBER….OCTOBER…OCTOBER!!
Hang with me for …..

Blogtoberfest!

Terrible, isn’t it? But fun, right?

The month of October is special to me. It’s not because of Halloween, although that’s part of it. October marks the month in which I had my first e-book published with Evernight Publishing.

In honor of this occasion as well as a personal challenge, I will be posting something Halloween related every single day of the month. In addition, I will be posting snippets of “Kitty Wishes”, that aforementioned published book.

I certainly hope that you will join me for Blogtoberfest – keep me honest with these posts!
