Blogtoberfest, Horror Movie Reviews

Horror Movie Review: The Bye Bye Man

Title:  The Bye Bye Man Genre:  Horror, Drama, it wasn’t terrible….. Summary: Three friends stumble upon the horrific origins of a mysterious figure they discover is the root cause of the evil behind unspeakable acts. (from IMDB) There’s an old song, from the seventies, that says, “Where do I begin/To tell the story of how sweet a love can be?” In this case, I would change the words to: Where do I begin/to tell the story of how crap this film it be? The movie begins in what looks like the 1960s where some dude with glasses is walking around with a shotgun chanting “Don’t think it, don’t say it” and systematically shooting everyone in his house and finally himself.  Okay. That’s fine. It is a horror, after all. Fast forward to the present time, and the good ol’ pack of those kind of young folks that you see in

Who’s in Your Tribe – Motivation Monday

Hello! Thank you for joining me today on the blog. Today, I’m naming names! If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times:  Writing is a very lonely pursuit.  I’m not speaking of the times spent on social media talking/posting about writing; I’m talking about those long stretches of time where you’re either pounding furiously at the keyboard, staring at a blank screen, or slowly but surely plugging away at your goal.  It’s a solitary pursuit, to be sure. This is why, in those times where you need advice on a plot point, a pointer about advertising, or just a jump start to your creativity, you go to your tribe.  If you don’t have a tribe, I highly recommend getting one. Every tribe is different.  People play smaller or larger roles, but all your tribe members are important, because they are in YOUR tribe and they help you

Tip Tuesday: Be Yourself

Hey there! Glad you could join me again on the blog.  You know how much I love my song titles, and Be Yourself by Patti really embodies what I’m feeling right now. Writing is a solitary experience, for the most part, which is why many of us turn to Facebook and other social media outlets to give us a little pick-me-up between the stretches of hard work we are putting in on our writing. And don’t be fooled by our whiny complaints and over-indulgence in coffee, wine, and journals. We love what we do, or else we wouldn’t do it. But, as with any industry, there are those who treat it simply as a business and not as personal expression.  These are the authors who use ghostwriters and manage to churn out a new release every other week (or so it seems!). Meanwhile, I’m sitting here tip tapping away on

Monday Motivation

Monday Motivation

Hello there!! You know, there  comes that time in the week where you need that kick in the pants to either start you up or keep you going.  Usually it’s Monday when you need that “start me up” motivation to dive in and get moving.  But I think anyone can use motivation at anytime.  Long story short, though I may call it Monday Motivation, hopefully you can use this any day of the week.
