Love and Lyrics

Don’t they just go together?  Not quite like a horse and carriage, but humans have been writing love songs to each other since…forever, right? Love songs are the glue that keeps us connected to the love in our souls. “I look at you all…see the love there that’s sleeping….” (George Harrison)  A good love song can bring that love to the surface, allow it to blossom and flow. You see that one person and suddenly…”Zing! Went the strings of my heart!” (James F. Hanley) Coming from a musical background, from piano lessons at five to playing in the high school band to singing lessons, I’ve heard a ton of varied music in my life.  Some of it was by choice, other times, not so much.  (Contrary to what my piano teacher wants me to believe, Bartok is just….ugh.  But I digress.) Because of this background, I’ve heard a ton of… Continued

Writer’s Block – Defeated!

As a writer, I’m sure that you’ve heard other writer’s complain about “writer’s block”. You’ve hit that brick wall before. I’m sure you’ve read numerous articles on how to cure writer’s block. And yet, the “muse is silent” or “can’t seem to put ‘pen to paper’”. Guess what? There’s no such thing as writer’s block, or at least the “writer’s block” that so many writers imagine. Writer’s block doesn’t swoop down (or up) and sit in your mind and keep you from letting the words flow. It’s not a dam, clogging the words that you so desperately want to get on paper. It’s not a malevolent external force over which you have no control. Writer’s block is like the Force: It’s in you. Writer’s block is fear. Fear of judgment by others about the crazy story with too much sex you just wrote. Fear of ridicule about that ridiculous storyline

Luscious Literaries has Launched

Welcome! Glad you stopped by the Luscious Literaries.  We’re a collection of sinfully sexy writers who compose prose that makes the steam rise.  (I left the cheap joke alone, I’m a classy broad.)  I’m Dahlia, pretty new to the writing game compared to some of my cohorts and I must say I’m in excellent company.  I’d admired these talented gals from afar before I made their acquaintance.  Since the Luscious theme for September is first times, if you lean a little closer I’ll tell you the first things I learned about them.  Please, keep it under your hat, okay?  I don’t want them to know I’m talking about them. Kassanna – My girl can put together a story.  Her Club Lexx series is hot, and I don’t throw that word around lightly.  Her secret gem is her story Keys to Victory –a complex, interesting and sexy story. First time I

Dahlia's Doing a Giveaway!

In honor of the release of my newest book, The Wisest Maiden, I am running my very first evah contest, darlings!  Isn’t this just the bee’s knees? The Wisest Maiden is a story of a  peasant girl who matches wits with a powerful king in a battle to stay alive after being forced into a one-night-only marriage.  It takes place in the fantasy Maolin  province, part of an arid desert world where there are still palace-mistresses, handmaidens and, of course, kings. I’m working with one of my associates from way back, the lovely Itiel McVay of  Smell Goods Spa, and offering a $25.00 Gift Certificate for one fortunate winner to sample some of the delights at the Smell Goods Spa.  I can tell you from experience that Itiel’s products are the best handmade products out there.  You do feel good and smell good after using them! All right, sweeties, here
