Movies that Sin

Though I usually have a ton of work to do, both online and off, I take the time to cruise around on YouTube, seeing what I can see.  I skip the show promos, the terrible movie trailers and the more boring things trying to get my attention. One day, while trying to understand the movie Promentheus (that never happened), I happened upon –GASP– Cinema Sins. These are short video where a narrator takes you through a film and points out plot holes, cliches and other terrible sins the movies we watch try to get past us.  It’s a great way to spend a couple of minutes, that’s for sure. The movie 2012 was so chock-full of cliches and ridiculousness, I wondered if they had any writers at all on the movie.  And Danny Glover is no replacement for Morgan Freeman as the president, that’s for sure. Come along with me… Continued

Movie Geek Monday: Famous Quotes from 1980s Films

There’s nothing like watching a movie and hearing an actor saying a line so apt or so memorable that it becomes part of pop culture.  In addition, it’s also awesome to hear a line that becomes a part of your personal repetoire of those quoations that are inspirational or just plain funny. You’ve heard these before.  You’ve seen them before.  Heck, you’ve probably said them before or at least muttered along with the character when the line was said in the movie.  Well, here are some of my favorites from the 1980s.   What are your favorite 1980s movie quotes?  Leave ’em in the comments!!

Sci-Fi Movie Mistakes

If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you’ll realize a few things about me:  I love music, movies and trivia that surrounds them both.  Knowing that something extra about a movie or a song just makes the experience all the more worthwhile. Today, I’m going to show you a few of my favorite movie mistakes. From classic movies to more recent ones, no matter how many eyes are on the movie, there is always something that slips by.  Let’s take a look. Jurassic Park   Star Wars ( I don’t bother with that episode 1,7, 4 mess. I’m old school.  It’s friggin Star Wars, simple as that.)

Hot off the Press – Reluctant Magic

I’ve got a new release!  This one is a short through Mocha Memoirs Press.  What’s it about?  Well, dear readers, I’ll tell you. It’s about a witch. After the suicide of her husband, former witch Kamilah Lake wants a normal life, free from witchcraft. But the stigma of her mother’s legacy clings to her, leaving her isolated from many of the close minded town folk. But when a runaway bull invades her back yard, bringing with tempting Native American veterinarian Dr. Granger Hawkins, Kami can’t deny her attraction. Problem is, Dr. Hawkins is straight science, no chaser and witchcraft is in Kami’s blood. I’d love to tell you more, but I can’t without giving away the fun of the story.  Click on the picture to purchase! I’ve always been partial to stories that used magic…my ultimate favorite series is the Chronicles of Narnia (not too crazy about the movies though).

Recipe for Love

I’m going to do something a little different for today’s recipe day. Love and food.  Food and love. How about Harry Connick Jr.’s Recipe for Love? “A little bit of me and a whole lot of you Add a dash of starlight and a dozen roses, too Then let it rise for a hundred years or two And that’s the recipe for making love…” “A little birdie told me you can’t make it by yourself…” [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XM4mBonEcIA&w=420&h=315] We like things sweet around here so “Pour some sugar on me Ooh, in the name of love Pour some sugar on me C’mon, fire me up Pour your sugar on me Oh, I can’t get enough” [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UIB9Y4OFPs?feature=player_embedded&w=640&h=360] And finally, what’s love without that juicy fruit? Cherry blossom kiss  is what you givin’  Makes my body rock keeps me sizzlin’  Do what you will I don’t care  I’ll be your lollipop  You can lick me
