Tuneful Tuesdays – Cher

Yes, I am late with my blog posts, so I have to double up.  If I double up and force myself to produce three to four a day to catch up, perhaps I’ll think twice next time about skipping a day.

Today’s tuneful Tuesdays is in honor of a woman who I have always admired.  She’s a little strange, granted, but I think you have to a little strange to be an artist of any type.

I love Cher.  I love the overblown costumes, the hair, the movies….the hair!  Truth be told, I bought her workout tapes too – and believe it or not, they were actually fun (hard) but fun!

Here’s some Cher for you today….

Frivolous Fridays – Peyton Manning

I’ll let you in on a secret.  I am a huge football fan.  When the season is over, my television rarely goes on except for silly reality shows like Finding Bigfoot and Ghost Adventures, and the occasional breaking news in the football world.

This week was memorable, to say the least.   I knew it was in the works, knew it was coming,  judging by Jim I*say’s rants on T*itter and in the news, the recent exposure of an extra neck surgery and the like….but I was still hoping.

The Indianapolis Colts let Peyton Manning go.  Fired him.  Kicked him to the curb.

Let me tell you another secret, but this one is just between us.  Although I am a New Jersey girl, born and bred, except for  two extended stays in  New Haven and New Orleans, and embrace all things New Jersey/New York including the Giants….(but not the Jets)

I was a Colts fan at heart.

I knew all their names, the O line, the D line the WRs, the RBs, the TEs.  Special teams!  Knew them all.   “Give the ball to Addai!  Let him run it!”

I even stuck with them through Curtis Painter and stayed up late to cheer when Dan Orlovsky brought them to victory (and Peyton to his hands and knees) in the December game versus the Texans.   That last second pass to Reggie Wayne was just beautiful!

But they decided to let Peyton go. Gone, baby, gone.

The Colts, for me, will never be the same.

Now, I know, Peyton had four neck surgeries, flew overseas to get fat injected into his neck, and one bad hit just might take him out (and not in a good way).

But without him calling audibles at the line? Sorry Colts. That’s like Michael Vick, Cam Newton and Tim Tebow not running the ball every once in a while.  It was something to which I looked forward, a facet of a Colts game that made them interesting.

Le sigh.  Pardon me while I shed a tear.

I’m back.

I shudder to think that I will have to start watching Miami or Arizona games.  I’m sorry, but the Miami uniforms are just hideous.  Hideous!

And one Manning in the NJ/NY area is enough.  Really, Rex Ryan?  You would put Peyton on the Jets with your O-line made of tissue paper and spit?  Poor Mark Sanchez ate more grass than a cow this season.

Anyway, that’s my take on Peyton’s leaving.  I’m not happy.  But, that’s football.

Tuneful Tuesdays – Eighties Songs

Hi everyone!

I was inspired to do this feature by fellow Evernight author Carolyn Rosewood, who also has this feature on her blog.  I mean, really, for someone who has over 4000 songs in  my music library (I have two terabyte external drives.  TWO. )  I really, really like music.

So, here are a few of my fave eighties songs.  Enjoy the hairstyles, clothes and makeup!

Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam – I Wonder if I Take You Home

The couples in this video are so cute!

Peter Gabriel – Sledgehammer

Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams

I always thought Annie Lennox was very strikingly beautiful – and that hair!

Prince – When Doves Cry

I could go on and on, but I won’t.  What are some of your faves?

Six Sentence Sunday – Zombies!

I almost forgot about Six Sentence Sunday!!

Today, visit with one of my works in progress about one of my very fave type of horror movies – the Zombie Apocalypse.    I’ve seen most of the Living Dead films, loved Planet Terror (as cheesy as it was) and am always in search of the ultimate zombie survival kit.

The blurb:

Judith Graham was the girl who did everything her parents told her to do. Now, as a woman, when the dead have risen and walk the earth in search of fresh human flesh, she subsists on dehydrated food and her own lonely thoughts in her dead parents’ house.  But when Sky Beckett enters her life, literally in the nick of time, will she be able summon the courage to leave her memories behind and start a new life in this bizarre new world?

And the six sentences….

She should have really paid more attention.  And if she ever got out of this, she would. Her chest heaved in and out in time with her pumping, burning legs.  They were nasty, vile creatures who had surprised her in supermarket up the street.  One of the men had almost caught her as she dashed out of the store; her skin held the memory of his sweaty hand slipping down her arm as she twisted away and ran.  They claimed they wanted to help her, but the lustful greed in their eyes belied their kind words.

And there you have it!  Want to read more?
