Sometimes a goodbye can lead to a second chance…..

Racing ahead of a deadline, singer Ellie Moore makes a stop at her beach house to retrieve a sentimental item. When she discovers her estranged husband there, she tries to grab and dash, but the sudden downpour of hard rain makes it impossible to safely leave.

Though he doesn’t know how he feels about seeing his rock star wife after all this time, the one thing David does know is that she’s not driving anywhere in a vicious hurricane.

Until the weather blows over, the two are stuck, forced to confront each other and the hurt lurking below the surface of their marriage.

Will the fierce winds of the raging storm blow open the locked doors to their hearts?

"You're wrong." Despite his protests, his face burned with shame at being so transparent.

Ellie put her hands on his chest and pushed. The physical contact jarred him. “I’m not wrong.” She was so close he could smell the fruity scent of wine on her breath.  “Your face knows the truth.”

Her hands came up again. He grabbed her wrists, pushed her against the refrigerator and kissed her. The moment his lips touched hers, the heat from his face suffused his entire body.  She raked her fingers through his hair and slipped her arms around his neck, her sweet, mouth pressed against his.

This, this, was all he dreamed about; this was what he wanted. And by the feel of her body against his, pressing closer, this was what she wanted too. He slipped one hand to the small of her back to pull her even closer, tasting her sunshine, the memory of coconut oil.

They came up for air together, staring at each other in the fluorescent light of the kitchen. “David." His wife's eyes were hot, her face flushed. “I—”

From outside, there was a loud cracking of thunder, a wicked flash of lighting, and the power went out.

Zoe Dennison isn’t super famous, but her brand of bluesy folk rock has kept her successful for years. Burned by a past relationship, she surrounds herself with her bandmates by day and her pick of young men at night.

Salem Bridges is a local musician in Dallington, emphasis on the local. No matter how good others tell him he is, he’ll never leave home to tour, not when his mother and his sister depend on him.

When the band needs a stand-in bass player, Salem fills the empty space, bringing his smooth playing, and devastating smile. Zoe tries to deny the irresistible attraction between them, but quickly succumbs to their mutual desire.

But it isn’t all unchained melodies. When they go their separate ways, can the two musicians navigate the pitfalls of their long-distance relationship to find their love of a lifetime?

“Give me your hands.”  Zoe held out both of her own, palms up.

Unsure of what she was going to do yet unwilling to give up a chance to touch her, he put his palms against hers.

With a tiny smile on her face, Zoe drew her hands backward until she was touching only his fingertips, looking down at his hands as if she were a fortune teller.  “Your calluses are minimal.”  Her gaze met his, and he thought his heart would seize up then and there.

One eyebrow raised slightly.  “You must have a very light touch.”

He didn't have an answer for that, so he said, “Upright is harder on the fingers.  Because of the strings.”

“I see.”  She bent back over his hands, rubbing her thumbs in small circles over his fingers.

He could feel her breath on his hands, and his muscles froze against the arousal that began to stir.  The tequila rushed through his blood at a frantic pace, heating his face as his self-control started to slip.  She was asking him something, but he couldn’t hear her through the muted chatter of the patrons and the sudden rushing in his ears.

“I’m sorry, what?”

She was still holding on to his hands.  “I said, how are the strings different?”

“Thicker,” he managed to say.  The pressure on his hands diminished, and he knew she was about to let go. He was debating whether that was a good thing or a bad thing when she let go.

Liberated only slightly from his sexual haze, Salem glanced over at the stage.  “We’d better go,” he said. “It’s going to get a little loud.”

Zoe laughed. “Maybe I like loud.”

Camilla pressed her lips together to keep herself from remarking on Mari's sugary disrespect of her espresso. Besides that, she hated having them referred to as scars, even though it was reality. She raised her fingers to her face and touched the mask. "It's more than a few scars. It's one fourth of my face."

Perhaps sensing her daughter's imminent tears, Mari patted her hand. "Darling, please don't dwell. You're beautiful, still beautiful. Lucas won't be able resist you. Don't you understand your power? You give him what he wants, what he needs most." She squeezed her hand, then picked up her cup again. "Most of the overseas girls looked at him and saw a big, strong, American. They wanted to serve him. They didn't realize all he wanted to do was be on his knees." She nibbled a corner of her pastry. "And you have him all to yourself for ten days?"

"Two weeks."

The side of Mari's mouth went up in a half-smile. "He'll beg to eat out of your hand the second night and lick the diamond between your thighs on the third." She winked. "I bet he still has the collar you purchased for him."

Camilla blushed. Mari was really too much. "Maman, please!" She tried to sound indignant, but she hoped her mother was right.

"I'm serious, Cam!" Mari extended a slim hand. "Ten thousand dollars says I'm right."

"Five thousand."

"Oh, pshaw, Camilla. Live a little. I know for a fact you make as much in interest in a week." Her mother's dark brown spiral curls bobbed as she nodded. "I raised a very smart woman."

Camilla flushed from the compliment and shook her mother's hand. "Ten thousand, then."

"All joking aside, darling." Her mother leaned forward. "He wouldn't come if he weren't interested."

Lifting her cup to her mouth, Camilla shrugged. "I hold the deed to his family's diner. Of course he's going to come."

Mari shook her head. "A man's pride is at stake. If he didn't wish to be in your service, he'd sell a limb." She tore off a small portion of her croissant and popped in into her mouth. "He's coming back for you."

"Oh, Maman." The threat of tears stung her eyes for the second time in an hour. "I wish I could be as sure as you are."

"Mark my words. He wants to come back." Mari eyed her daughter. "But you can't make it easy for him. I know how soft-hearted you are, Cammie. Make him earn it. On his knees."
